Drancy 1941 – 1944, the Internment Camp Next Door

Category History
Duration 70 min
Year 2012
Synopsis
With the recent opening of a Memorial Museum on the site of the former Drancy concentration camp, let us reconsider the untold story of that world-renowned place of remembrance of the Holocaust in France, which was the central transit centre for the near totality of the 76 000 deported Jews of France during World War II. Thanks to new archives and exclusive testimonies, this lm casts new light on the fate of the French Jewish community between 1941 and 1944, and the responsibility of French authorities during the German Occupation. Renewing our view of that period, this historical documentary enables us to face this brutal past with more detailed information, and enrich our collective memory.
