The World According to Trump

Category Investigation
Duration 52 min and 70 min
Year 2020
Synopsis
The surprise winner in 2016, Donald Trump assumed the path to a second term was clear. But his catastrophic handling of the coronavirus crisis, the seriousness of which he long denied, weakened him. In dealing with the epidemic, the president has behaved the same way he has done since arriving in the White House: with an aggressive style, inflammatory tweets, sweeping declarations, waging war on the media and his opponents, making promises to the religious and conservative electorate, refusing to listen to his advisers, and rejecting multilateralism.

To tell the inside story of Trump in power, we interviewed several of his former collaborators including John Bolton, former national security advisor, and Anthony Scaramucci, former White House communications director, as well as high-profile journalists he targeted in his crusade against the press; psychologists and psychiatrists who have studied his personality; a health official; a Black Lives Matter activist; and an evangelical pastor who unreservedly supports him.

A tough, uncompromising portrait of the most controversial American president, just a few days before a decisive election for the future of the country.
