Colette, the Rebellious

Category Art and culture
Duration 52 min

Synopsis
«I want to do whatever I desire to». At times novelist, submissive wife, mime, naked dancer, critic, scriptwriter, publicist and even shop keeper, Colette lived her life unapologetically, constantly reinventing herself through her words, her scandals and her metamorphosis. From a small-town country girl to the icon of the Belle Époque, then a revered secular Madonna, the pioneer of autobiographical novels created a devilish fictional version of herself inseparable from her own work.

(...) this lovely documentary pays tribute to the immense writer who made her free and eccentric life the subject of her fictions.
