In February 2025, revelations about the physical, sexual and psychological abuse inflicted on pupils at Notre-Dame de Bétharram in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques acted as a real catalyst. Soon, testimonies began pouring in from all quarters. Across France, former pupils of private Catholic schools found the courage to speak out publicly about the abuse they had suffered during their school years. Society had no choice but to listen to them.
